DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and maintain the county’s enterprise network architecture roadmap.
Lead the design of complex, multi-site, hybrid (cloud/on-premises) network solutions.
Ensure scalability, resilience, and security in all network designs.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to Network Engineers and IT staff.
Establish standards, policies, and best practices for network operations.
Serve as the escalation point for high-impact network issues.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
Drive modernization initiatives such as cloud integration.
Align network architecture with county-wide digital transformation goals.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including cybersecurity mandates.
Partner with Information Security teams to embed security into network design.
Document architecture decisions and maintain enterprise-level diagrams and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
Ten (10) years of progressive experience in network engineering, design, or architecture.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
SCREENING AND COMPLIANCE
The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:
Successful completion of a post-offer medical examination and background investigation.
Compliance with all applicable County safety guidelines.
Completion of FEMA training(s) as assigned to the position.
Completion of required supervisory training courses, if appliable.
Possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license.
PREFERENCES
Cisco Network Certification (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or equivalent.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment but occasionally requires travel to other locations.
Work environments may include noise, dust and/or unpleasant odors, and may occasionally require work in confined spaces.
Occasional evening, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.
