IT Lead Lending

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring IT Lead for the Lending and SSG Tribes in Wholesale Banking Tech. You will lead a diverse team of highly skilled engineers, where we expect all the people within the squads have the confidence to take responsibility when it comes to realizing value for ING and its customers. You act as an ambassador for IT to all stakeholders within or outside of WB Tech through frequent interaction and alignment. You are part of the Wholesale Banking Tech Management Team, reporting directly to the Global CIO Wholesale Banking.

The Team

As the IT Lead you are responsible for approximately 250 engineers, located in four countries: Netherlands, , Philippines, Poland, Romania and India. You have 8direct reports.

In Lending there are five areas focussed on: Client offerings, Credit & Capital Intelligence, Loan Servicing, Lending backoffice operations, Data and AI. . All these products are globally offered across ING’s international network (35+countries).

The SSG tribe currently has one area focussed ESG solutions for our WB differentiator of Sustainability at heart.

Across both tribes we drive the digital transformation of our products and services towards our corporate customers. This is enabled and fuelled further with IT Intergators, AI experts and Platform thinking.

Role and responsibilities

  • You are end-to-end responsible for the full IT function including reliability, cost effective change delivery, service quality, IT risk in line with in-and external requirements.
  • You are accountable for the IT Strategy, Architecture and Technology incl. the execution of the global Tech IT Strategy and alignment with the business strategy and priorities
  • You build and maintain a strong working relationship with global business stakeholders in the Wholesale Lending, WB Tech colleagues (e.g. Tribes Payments, Trade, Digital Channels, Data Lake) and other members of the global and local Tech community (specifically finance and Risk)
  • Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive actions
  • Provide the leadership in adoption of ING ways of working, and enhancing the IT maturity of practices, processes and engineering.
  • You actively build and manage the relationships with our main suppliers /vendors.
  • You are rresponsible for engagement and development of ING and hired staff, steering on craftmanship to maintain a highly skilled and motivated workforce

Given the nature of the work and access to confidential and sensitive information, the role is deemed to be ‘sensitive’. An extra security clearance is required by the Corporate Special Investigations (CSI) team to be appointed to this role.

About you

  • Master’s degree in computer science or comparable work experience.
  • Experienced IT leader with 10+ years’ experience in IT management roles
  • Proven track record in managing key vendors and commercial off the shelf software
  • Collaborative team player, with excellent communication skills to work seamlessly with ease with your business stakeholders.
  • Passion for and proven track record of working in an agile BizDevOps environment.
  • Must have worked with a geographically complex organization at scale with ability to embrace diverse multicultural teams and a highly customer-focussed outlook.
  • Proven track record in finding, growing, and promoting talent
  • An excellent understanding of how to organize internal software development and operations effectively, stays on top of the trends as technology changes and has a strong technical vision for the future
  • An understanding of Corporate Banking function would be an advantage.
