This intern position would provide a general overview into the daily Summit IT infrastructure support operations covering a variety of processes and technologies. This role receives work experience in a dynamic IT environment within one of the top US regional Workers’ Compensation management groups. Summit Consulting LLC, headquartered in Lakeland, FL, is a super-regional Workers’ Compensation insurance management company operating in fifteen states throughout the Southeast and Southwest United States.

This intern role includes working with Summit’s Infrastructure team and may include the following tasks:

  • Data networking
  • Windows servers
  • Cloud Service Integrations (SaaS)
  • Vulnerability research
  • Software installation
  • Architecture technical and process documentation (Word, Visio)
  • Data analysis (excel, monitoring tools)
  • Active Directory
  • IT change management
  • Problem resolution
  • Requirements gathering and planning

Note: Some activities may be limited to observe/documentation only due to security and potential risk to certain systems.

Desired qualities:

  • Dependable, self-motivated, goal-oriented, strong analytic ability. Able to apply critical thinking and multi-taking skills.
  • Prefer a junior or senior with ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Preferred field of study: Information Technology, Computer Science, or related
  • Approximately 8-12 weeks
  • The person hired for this position will work out of the Lakeland, FL office which offers a hybrid work environment of 2 days in the office and 3 days work from home.
