The IT Director of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence (BI) leads the delivery and ongoing operation of the organization’s data engineering, business intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled analytics capabilities. This role partners with business and IT teams to design and scale data architectures, pipelines, automation, and reporting solutions that provide secure, reliable, and timely access to data, while managing teams responsible for platform stability, BI delivery, and continuous improvement. This role will oversee and provide direction to managers and teams on adherence to company policies, procedures, and workflow processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own the design, delivery, and operation of enterprise data engineering and BI platforms.
  • Lead development and scaling of data pipelines, data warehouse/lakehouse, and semantic layers.
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and performant access to data for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
  • Oversee BI tools, dashboards, and reporting standards to support consistent decision-making.
  • Lead AI Strategy Deployment initiatives, including stakeholder engagement on new capabilities, including agents, AI/BI, and more.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into data platforms, including model pipelines.
  • Drive automation across data ingestion, transformation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Define and enforce data architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, observability, and operational resilience.
  • Establish and manage CI/CD, version control, and environment management for data and BI assets.
  • Manage vendor platforms, tools, and contracts related to data, BI, and AI technologies.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and technical teams; set priorities and performance expectations.
  • Plan and manage budgets, capacity, and roadmap delivery for data and BI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on data governance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Actively participate as a key team member in Manager/Supervisor meetings.
  • Actively participate in various strategic and internal committees to disseminate information within the organization and represent company philosophy.

Supporting Responsibilities:

  • Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  • Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUCCESS PROFILE

Work Experience: A minimum of 10 years of Data Engineering, Analytics, or BI experience required, including at least 5 years of progressive leadership responsibilities. Experience in effectively managing cross-functional teams, influencing key stakeholders, across the organization and within complex contexts preferred. Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading Analytics teams in complex and dynamic environments. Demonstrated experience in establishing standard processes and managing performance to achieve key metrics required.

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates with an associate’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience, in addition to the required minimum years of work experience will also be considered.

Knowledge: Experience in the application of BI concepts like Data warehousing, Master Data Management, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and associated use of tools like SQL, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, Snowflake, and Copilot Studio. Proven ability to perform difficult analytical tasks with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of health plan and clinical is desired. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. Ability to solve complex problems. Ability to deal responsibly with confidential information. Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time.

The wage range provided reflects the full range for this position. The maximum amount listed represents the highest possible salary for the role and should not be interpreted as a typical starting wage. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, and internal equity. Please note that the stated range is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a guarantee of any specific salary within that range.

Base Range:

$127,338.01 - $216,474.62
