The Director of Application Solution Delivery is the leader accountable for the delivery of software applications that enable our associates in the field to best support our customer’s needs. This position is responsible for developing and delivering three technical communities of practice: (1) Business Systems Analysis, (2) Engineering, and (3) Quality Assurance. The communities of practice will come together to support multiple strategic business initiatives in parallel. The Director will develop a software delivery roadmap to align and support prioritized critical initiatives, delivering with speed and ingenuity. This leader will be responsible for identifying and removing constraints, developing a bench of high-quality resources, and delivering projects on time with consistency. The Director will set the standard for how to be a good technical partner for our business while developing a rich set of capabilities that are readily available to the field. The role collaborates with the Senior Director of Trilogie Engineering and Operations and will be part of the Technology Extended Leadership team.

Location: This is a Hybrid role based out of our HQ location in Newport News, VA, in accordance with the our Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Fulfill the mission and vision of the Trilogie Engineering and Operations team to encourage a performance-focused culture and perspective centered on continual service improvement.
  • Leads the development of the ERP Engineering strategy and roadmap and ensures its integration with the overall Technology strategic plans.
  • Works with the Technology leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources.
  • Drives the development of the ERP Engineering technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics to ensure the team delivers and is aligned with the technology strategy.

Trilogie (Internal ERP) Engineering:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of innovative business applications that empower associates and delight customers.
  • Model what it means to be a good technical partner.
  • Accountable for all enhancements to the ERP platform, including the ERP Modernization Program.
  • Identify and seize opportunities to innovate and transform the legacy ERP platform.
  • Responsible for the development of technology leaders with a product-centric approach.
  • Responsible for defining and developing highly functional, nimble, solution delivery teams.
  • Accountable for all facets of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, programming, configuration, testing, and deployment).

Operations Management:

  • Influence the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for ERP Engineering.
  • Supports the ERP Engineering sourcing strategy and provides oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management.
  • Works closely with the CISO and our Security team to ensure SOX compliance and to adhere to all security policies and procedures.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the ERP Engineering leadership team and staff.
  • Works with HR and the Technology leadership team to develop a "people strategy" that aligns with the Technology strategy.
  • Forecasts future skill needs to acquire and develop a technology workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies that balance between growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives and ensuring the core technology functions are reliable, stable and efficient.

Other Ferguson Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving the Ferguson culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performing other duties or functions as requested by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience working in the Technology industry including eight (8) years in IT leadership positions.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities of 25 or more highly skilled IT associates
  • Provable experience in managing portfolios of software.
  • Deep understanding of computer systems characteristics, features and integration capabilities.
  • Proven leadership ability instilling confidence and demonstrate the business value of IT.
  • In-depth working knowledge of off-the-shelf applications, cloud applications, and custom applications.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns to the IT and business strategy.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role.
  • Excellent analytical skills, clear conceptual thinking, effective planning, and strong follow-through abilities.
  • Strong business sense, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
  • Expertise in budget planning and financial management.
  • Success in bringing to bear both traditional IT service management practices based on ITIL, as well as emerging methods like DevOps that are optimized for agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a strategic people plan and implement it. The plan ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time. It also ensures employees are highly engaged and satisfied.
  • Strong vendor management and partner relation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts across the technical workforce.
  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Pay Range:

$9,409.50 - $17,833.30

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
