The IT Data Scientist is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that support strategic business and technology initiatives. This role leverages AWS cloud-based AI and data services to build scalable models, generate actionable insights, and drive data-informed decision-making. The IT Data Scientist partners with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex data into practical solutions while ensuring data integrity, security, and performance within a cloud-based environment.

Role details

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and advanced analytics models to solve business problems.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Leverage AWS AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock, Rekognition, Comprehend, Textract) to build scalable solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to support model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into analytical solutions.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate algorithms, tools, and cloud services for specific use cases.
  • Deploy and monitor models in AWS environments to ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Implement data validation, quality controls, and governance best practices.
  • Present findings and insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilize MLflow for experiment tracking, model versioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Deploy, register, and monitor models using MLflow and AWS environments to ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Optimize model performance and continuously improve analytics solutions.
  • Support experimentation, proof-of-concept development, and innovation initiatives.
  • Document methodologies, processes, and technical configurations

Requirements

  • Required: Associate Degree (2-year degree).
  • Preferred: BS / BA in Computer Science, Information Technology Certification.
  • Minimum three years' experience in technician or similar applicable role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages used for data science.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Hands-on experience with MLflow for experiment tracking, model registry, and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly AWS AI/ML tools such as SageMaker and Bedrock.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data mining techniques.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
  • Knowledge of data wrangling, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture principles and scalable system design.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance considerations in cloud environments.
