Major Duties:

  • You will install, test, and implement vendor-supplied modifications to existing systems software.
  • You will independently determine the feasibility of installing modifications and schedule implementation to ensure continuity of operations.
  • You will develop and conduct documentation, demonstrations, and classes on the new or modified systems software.
  • You will administer enterprise complex Wide Area Network (WAN) and Datacenter Local Area Network integration of multiple services including security boundaries, to include regional base on-premises and cloud environments.
  • You will serve as a senior developer and engineer in support, and implementation of WAN and Datacenter systems, applications, and telecommunications systems.
  • You will install and test all software and hardware upgrades.
  • You will build and maintain standard software configurations on all network devices.
  • You will ensure that all network hardware and wiring conform to datacenter design.
  • You will patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties.
  • You will integrate new systems into existing network architecture.
  • You will provide feedback on network requirements to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties.

Qualifications: You are required to have information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network defense strategies, and compliance frameworks (e.g., National Institute of Standards and Technology) to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Experience supporting enterprise network and system by providing guidance and feedback on network requirements. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Demonstrated ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex network and system issues in a timely manner. Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Configuring, administering, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated systems to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing operations. This position is within the Work Category Professional at Work Level Full Performance Series and Grade GG-2210-13.
