IT Consultant

Location: DMV Area (Local Client Travel)
A growing IT services organization is seeking an IT Consultant to support its managed services practice. This role is designed for a highly experienced IT professional who serves as a technical escalation point and leads complex client-facing initiatives across a diverse environment.

Role Overview
IT Consultant provides hands-on technical consulting and advanced IT support for a portfolio of managed services clients. This position operates independently at client sites while collaborating closely with internal teams. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong project ownership, and excellent client-facing skills.

Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site and remote technical consulting and advanced IT support for managed services clients
Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex technical issues and projects
Diagnose and resolve issues across servers, networks, cloud platforms, and end-user systems
Implement, manage, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure including hardware, software, and network environments
Lead technical projects and guide junior engineers as needed
Monitor system performance and ensure reliability, security, and scalability
Collaborate with internal teams to identify client needs and recommend improvements
Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professional service delivery
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices

Technical Environment
Experience with many of the following is expected:
VMware and Hyper-V
Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Active Directory
PowerShell scripting for automation (required)
AWS and Azure cloud platforms
Network security and firewall configurations (experience with Unifi or pfSense a plus)
Linux systems administration
Microsoft Teams Rooms configuration
Managed services tools such as PSA, remote support, and documentation platforms

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in IT support or systems engineering
5 years in leadership roles.
Prior experience in a senior, lead, or escalation role strongly preferred
Managed Services Provider (MSP) experience a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently in client environments and manage multiple priorities
Relevant technical certifications are a plus
Clean background and driving record; reliable personal transportation required
Work Environment & Travel
Hybrid role with remote work when not at client sites
Frequent travel to client locations throughout the DMV area
Mileage reimbursement provided
