Role Overview
Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior CAD–PLM Expert to support and evolve the enterprise CAD ecosystem, ensuring effective integration with Windchill PLM and alignment with organizational engineering standards. The role will contribute to CAD publishing and visualization enablement, while primarily focusing on CAD tool integration, governance, and roadmap definition. This role blends hands-on technical experience, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic planning to improve engineering efficiency and support JCI’s digital engineering objectives. Experience working with Model-Based Definition (MBD) models within a PLM environment (PTC Windchill preferred) is required.

Key Responsibilities
MCAD Tool Leadership
- Provide strong functional and hands-on expertise across MCAD tools including Creo Parametric, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Additional benefits if you know ECAD tools like Mentor Graphics, and Altium Designer.
- Act as a technical point of contact for complex CAD-related issues and integrations.
- Support standardization and best practices across engineering teams.
- Contribute to MBD standards, templates, and best practices within the organization.
- Proven experience creating Model Based Definition (MBD) CAD models
CAD–PLM Integration
- Support and govern CAD–PLM integrations with Windchill, including Creo–Windchill and other MCAD tools windchill integration
- Support workspace usage, version control, and lifecycle alignment.
- Collaborate with PLM and IT teams to ensure stable and supportable integrations.
- Assist with impact assessment and coordination during CAD or PLM upgrades.
Creo Visualization & Publishing
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with Creo Visualization and Publishing.
- Support Creo View publishing processes and CAD viewable generation.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of publishing related issues.
- Contribute to defining and following visualization and publishing standards.
Enterprise CAD Roadmap Definition
- Contribute to defining the enterprise CAD roadmap.
- Support tool usage and standardization strategy.
- Ensure alignment of CAD versions with Windchill releases.
- Evaluate enhancements and provide recommendations aligned to engineering needs.
Governance, Standards & Best Practices
- Help establish and maintain standards for CAD modeling, drafting, integrations, naming conventions, and templates.
- Identify recurring CAD and integration issues and recommend preventive measures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce avoidable support tickets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Mechanical Engineering teams, PLM operations, and IT teams.
- Engage with tool vendors and implementation partners when required.
- Participate in technical reviews and roadmap discussions.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 6–10 years of experience in enterprise CAD and PLM environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Creo Parametric and one or more MCAD tools.
- Experience working with Windchill PLM integrations.
- Ability to contribute to tools and integration strategies.
Good to Have
- Experience with Creo Visualization and Publishing.
- Understanding CAD viewable generation and downstream consumption.
- Exposure to multi-CAD environments.
- Experience working in a global engineering organization.
- Familiarity with Windchill+ or SaaS-based PLM environments.
- Exposure to ECAD tools (Mentor Graphics, Altium, or AutoCAD Electrical)
