Tokio Marine Kiln is searching for an IT Assistant Vice President – Data Science. This role will be employed by Tokio Marine Kiln but will support and report into another Tokio Marine Group subsidiary based in the US, Tokio Marine North America Services (TMNAS).
Reporting into the IT Vice President- Integrated Data Products, the role will be responsible for managing and developing teams, building organisational capability, and setting and communicating direction. It will identify opportunities to deploy extensive knowledge of data science techniques, challenging the status quo, and designing and implementing scalable data science outputs and products. The role will drive collaboration with group companies and departments with IT to support our organisational objectives, select the most appropriate tools and technologies, navigate ethical and data challenges, and effectively communicate and present findings. The role would collaborate with GC Business Leaders in the creation of Data Products and provide direction to Data Scientists within the TMNAS GC’s as well.
This role will be a remote role based in the UK with occasional travel to the US and London office.
Key responsibilities include:
Predictive Modelling: Develop predictive models to enhance risk assessment, fraud detection, and customer segmentation strategies.
Claims Analysis: Analyse claims data to identify patterns, improve processing efficiency, and detect fraudulent activity.
Pricing Optimization: Work closely with Actuarial teams to optimise pricing models and assess market competitiveness.
Risk Assessment: Build advanced models for risk prediction and mitigation, leveraging structured and unstructured data.
Data Preparation: Clean, preprocess, and integrate data from multiple sources, including internal systems and external third-party datasets.
Oversee the development of the Medalion data architecture for TMNAS and its Group Companies
Customer Insights: Identify trends in customer behaviour to improve retention, tailor policy offerings, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Collaboration: Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Claims teams to align data science initiatives with business objectives.
Visualization: Oversee the creation insights and reports to present insights to non-technical stakeholders, supporting data-driven decisions.
The successful candidate will be proficient in Python, R, or similar programming languages and have experience with SQL and data manipulation in databases. You will also have familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and have strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Snowflake, Databricks) is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Extensive relevant experience with demonstrable experience implementing data solutions, preferably within the insurance industry is preferred. As well as, strong knowledge of insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and regulatory compliance preferred.
