IT Area Lead Wholesale Banking Transaction Services Reporting & Cards

The Opportunity:

As an IT Area Lead in the Wholesale Banking Transaction Services Reporting & Cards area, you will make an impact on developing ING’s core reporting applications. You will oversee the IT Custodianship of these applications, guide the IT Chapter Leads, be accountable for the technical proficiency of the engineers within your domain and determining the technical strategy for your area.

This area combines the challenges of in-house build applications servicing critical business services globally and SaaS applications which comes with a complex and challenging landscape. One of the most critical applications for this area will have to go through a significant life cycle for the coming years and thus a strong and clear vision and strategy should be developed here across the full value chain. Of course this will not be the sole responsibility of the IT Area Lead only, since we value working closely together with the Delivery Area Lead/Product Lead and act as a tandem. Together you will steer the area to a shared dot on the horizon.

The Team:

You will work in a professional international environment, where you will be responsible for establishing critical and complex financial services that ING provides to clients globally. You will execute the bank's and Transaction Services’s strategy within your domain, while also setting the IT strategy pertinent to your domain. The team operates as one for the full value chain, so you will be working closely together with: the product management / commercial colleagues, the business delivery colleagues and a stellar tech team. This Tech team is located in Türkiye, India and The Netherlands.

Your key responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • IT Custodianship: Overseeing our strategic reporting and cards applications and managing the associated IT risks.
  • Predictable Delivery: Ensuring our software is delivered on schedule by teams within your area, while meeting commitments regarding quality, timelines, and features.
  • Reliable Operation: Maintaining the dependable operation of IT assets in your domain and fostering a culture of 'zero outages'.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engaging in stakeholder relations and contributing to QBRs within the Transaction Services organization and beyond.
  • Technical Leadership: Providing guidance and enhancing technical skills among IT Chapters in your area, focusing on: Agile customer-centric software development and People-oriented management and development of Chapter leads and engineers
  • Cost Efficiency: Reducing infrastructure costs through migration to ICHP and ensuring proper budget control.
  • Automated Testing: Implementing automated testing and continuous delivery practices.
  • Adoption of Gen(AI): Integrating Gen(AI) capabilities within Transaction Services.
  • Workforce Optimization: Strategically composing the workforce using internal resources, SSI partners, and ING Hubs.

  • Bachelors of Computer Science or an equivalent field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, in creating high scalability, mission-critical, transaction processing applications
  • Existing experience in line management of teams responsible for high criticality applications
  • While not mandatory, knowledge of customer reporting and cards acquiring is a big nice-to-have
  • You stay up-to-date on how the business is changing and are able to think together with our business colleagues about how best to evolve our product proposition
  • You are passionate about growing and developing people
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • You love technology and naturally stay up-to-date on relevant developments
  • You value a multi-cultured environment where English is the working language and you easily collaborate with people from different cultural backgrounds
