Job Description:

We are seeking a technology advisor or patent agent for our life sciences patent practice in our Silicon Valley, Boston, New York or Washington, DC offices. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. (or M.D. with research experience) in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field to join our busy life sciences patent prosecution and counseling practice as a technology advisor or patent agent. Duties include but are not limited to: conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses; analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation; draft patent applications and responses to office actions; and participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO. Must have superb technical, written and verbal communication skills. Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology is required. The individual must possess initiative, be a fast learner, and work well with others. Must be a registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam and otherwise meet the requirements for registration as a patent agent. This is a full-time position with in-office requirements of at least three days a week. Law school tuition assistance is available to qualified patent agent candidates.

The anticipated range for this position is:

$112,500 - 250,000 USD

Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.  Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
