What you’ll be doing
CIBC Global Asset Management (CGAM) is one of Canada's largest asset management firms with approximately $300 billion in assets under management and possess over forty-five years of experience designing and implementing client solutions. We are leaders in providing a broad range of high-quality global investment management solutions to retail and institutional clients.
Our assets include those under institutional money management for pension funds, endowments and insurance funds, private wealth management, and those that are part of the CIBC family of mutual funds such as CIBC Mutual Funds and Renaissance Investments family of funds and the CIBC family of managed portfolio solutions such as Managed Portfolio Services (MPS), Personal Portfolio Services (PPS), Frontiers Pools, Axiom Portfolios.
Reporting to the Senior Investment Strategist, and working closely with the Portfolio Solutions team within Total Investment Solutions, this role is responsible for representing GAM’s investment views on a broad and holistic basis through all forms of communication and media. This includes communication of the top-down GAM House View, as well as distilling investment views from all GAM investment teams and building these into a holistic GAM-wide message and narrative.

The expected annualized base salary range for this $160,000 to $200,000.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs.
Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you’ll succeed
Act as one of GAM’s principal client-facing investment representatives. Deliver economic, market, and portfolio views—including GAM’s House View—externally to various client audiences, through a range of media. Deliver a range of written content either directly or in collaboration with Marketing & Communications personnel: Brief Agile Market Commentaries, regular Market Commentaries, customized Channel Commentary, e.g., CPIC, Ad Hoc research papers and presentation decks on relevant Subjects. Work with GAM Chief Investment Officers, Client Portfolio Managers & Portfolio Managers, and External Sub-Advisor Portfolio Managers to integrate asset class views into holistic market commentaries and presentations.
Make regular presentations to clients on global economic and financial trends, as well as the GAM House View, and be readily available to meet and present to all audiences as a key GAM, CIBC PWM and CIBC US PWM senior market thought leader.
Assist the Group Chief Investment Officers in linking GAM Economic & Market View across all GAM investment teams.
Act as one of GAM’s principal external investment representatives to industry and media, making frequent presentations and acting as a frequent commentator on BNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, and in print media. Media: Written, webinars, conferences, podcasts. LinkedIn, as well as other social media platforms, as appropriate. TV – to include BNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, etc. Other External Media – to include the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Globe and Mail. Audiences: PBB Advisors, Investment Advisors, Retail Clients, Institutional Clients, Investment Consultants. Contribute to the GAM brand story through the Marketing & Communications Team.
Education and Training: Help lead educational initiatives, training partners, distribution teams, advisors and clients, as a means to enhance awareness and understanding of GAM's investment capabilities.
Industry Leadership: Stay ahead of competitor market and investment views, including in GAM key markets, and deliver compelling presentations that position GAM as a thought and market leader.
Client Feedback Integration: Actively solicit and gather feedback from clients and advisors regarding GAM’s economic, market, and portfolio management views and quality of collateral. Collaborate with CIO’s, CPM’s and PM’s to continuously improve collateral.
Who you are
You’re a certified professional. An undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree in business, finance and/or economics is desired. CFA and/or CIM designations required. Designation by OSC as an Advising Representative is required.
You can demonstrate your experience. 15+ years of experience as a senior, externally-facing investment professional. Significant experience in portfolio management and/or investment analysis, with a proven track record of success.A deep and holistic understanding of markets investments, investment strategy and portfolio management, with extensive experience across a range of asset classes. A high impact, well-respected and well-recognized leader in the asset management sector, and a robust network with both investment advisors and institutions. A master high-impact communicator, with significant experience communicating and presenting investment and portfolio strategy and views to advisors, clients, institutions and media, through both verbal and written materials. A well-resected and known professional in Canada’s investment industry who understands the investment needs of a range of clients and is able to communicate fluently in a very credible manner. Risk aware - sound awareness of risk and impact on business, and makes informed, risk-aware decisions. Understand all relevant CIBC policies, Mutual Fund Sales Practices and relevant regulatory legislation. The ability to conduct business in both English and French is desirable
