Team / division overview
Private Credit is a key growth pillar within DWS’s €115bn Alternatives franchise. DWS Private Credit has two distinct but complementary strategies: Private Corporate Credit and Asset-Based Finance. This role will be in the private corporate credit team. Key aspects of DWS Private Credit include:
Strategic Cooperation with Deutsche Bank: DWS gained preferred access to a wide range of private credit, asset-based finance, and direct lending opportunities originated by the bank. This leverages Deutsche Bank's extensive "real economy" origination expertise and DWS's investment management experience.
Investment Focus: The platform aims to build diversified portfolios across various strategies including direct lending, venture debt and leveraged loans. The emphasis is on delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns and capital preservation for clients.
As an Investment Associate, you will be a hands-on member of the Private Corporate Credit team, responsible for underwriting and executing new private lending opportunities. You will play a critical role in deal execution, credit analysis, and portfolio management, working closely with senior team members and cross-functional partners.
Your responsibilities
As an Investment Associate, you will be responsible for:
Supporting deal execution & underwriting by performing detailed financial modeling and credit analysis for private credit transactions.
Conducting comprehensive due diligence across multiple sectors.
Drafting and presenting investment committee memoranda.
Supporting portfolio management through monitor existing investments, including performance tracking and covenant testing.
Supporting quarterly reporting and valuation processes.
Collaborating with Product and Coverage teams across DWS to develop fund marketing materials and fundraising strategies.
Contributing to the development of a high-performance culture within the investment team.
Working with partners across Corporate Functions to ensure the business meets demands of clients across multiple channels.
Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives aligned with team objectives
We are looking for:
Demonstratable relevant work experience in leveraged lending, private credit, investment banking, or related fields.
Strong technical skills in accounting, financial modelling and credit analysis.
Experience conducting due diligence and managing risk controls.
Familiarity with legal documentation (credit agreements, term sheets) is a plus but not a necessity.
Experience with credit remediation and restructuring is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a project-driven environment.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline with strong academic performance. Candidates with other academic backgrounds will be considered on a case by case basis.
