Position Summary

The Inventory Analyst is an experienced, fully competent professional responsible for managing inventory execution in support of major buys, bids, and customer initiatives. The role applies broad knowledge of inventory management, supply chain processes, and related disciplines to coordinate across Purchasing, Sales, Pricing, Operations, suppliers, and distribution centers. Working within established policies and practices, this position uses professional judgment to resolve a diverse range of inventory and order execution problems. The Inventory Analyst contributes to team and cross-functional outcomes by ensuring product availability and order management processes support the sales team's ability to fulfill customer needs and meet service commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Order & Inventory Coordination

  • Manages execution of inventory events tied to major buys, bids, and customer accounts, applying professional judgment within established policies and procedures.

  • Resolves availability constraints, allocation challenges, and order exceptions using defined guidelines and escalating to management when issues fall outside established parameters.

  • Determines appropriate execution approaches to meet customer commitments while managing inventory risk within the team's operational framework.

Supplier & DC Coordination

  • Coordinates with suppliers, distribution centers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on timing, quantities, and delivery priorities.

  • Applies working knowledge of related disciplines to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions to management and cross-functional partners.

Sales Team Enablement

  • Partners with Sales and Pricing to support quoting and bid activity by providing inventory feasibility and execution input.

  • Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders as needed to support cross-functional coordination and ensure inventory considerations are reflected in customer commitments.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Tracks inventory availability metrics and product fill rates for key items; identifies patterns in stockouts, backorders, or fulfillment failures and escalates systemic issues.

  • Analyzes inventory performance data, identifies trends, and provides recommendations to inform purchasing decisions and account planning activities.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and 4+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical supply chain, inventory management, or distribution operations will be considered.

Critical Skills

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: Pharmaceutical inventory management, supply chain coordination, or distribution operations, including familiarity with availability cycles, allocation processes, and order exception management

  • Order coordination and fulfillment support in a B2B or wholesale environment, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet customer service commitments

  • Collaboration with purchasing, demand planning, or product management teams in a supply chain or operations context

  • Working knowledge of WMS, ERP systems (SAP preferred), or other inventory management platforms used to track product availability, process orders, and manage exceptions

  • Exposure to secondary wholesale market dynamics, short-dated product management, or pharmaceutical distribution preferred

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Inventory Management: Working knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain processes, product availability cycles, and allocation procedures

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Ability to manage communication across Sales, Distribution Centers, suppliers, and Procurement within defined workflows

  • Problem-Solving: Resolves order exceptions and availability issues using established guidelines; escalates complex or out-of-policy situations appropriately

  • Attention to Detail: Maintains accurate product availability data and exception tracking records

  • Proactive Communication: Identifies potential issues early and keeps sales and operations partners informed in a timely manner

Working Conditions

  • Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) – Office

  • Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) – Must have ability to travel up to 30% of the time

  • Travel to Las Colinas Quarterly

This role is a hybrid position. The selected candidate is expected to work on-site at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in-office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$72,800 - $121,400
