A Brief Summary of This Position
This position ensures the accuracy of work-in-process, raw material, and finished good inventory records using cycle counting and transaction auditing tools. It is expected that this position demonstrates the core values of the Valmont and shows respect toward others. The Inventory Control Specialist is a team player with excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Inventory control is an auditing function that detects problems/errors and provides recommendations for improvement and resolution. This position must be able to analyze and document inventory related problems, whether caused by the system, procedures or other causes. Decisions made will directly affect the on-time shipment of customer and inter-site orders. It will also impact external inventory audit requirements of the company’s Independent Public Accountants. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. A very high degree of self-motivation and organization is a must with demonstrated attention to detail maintaining accurate records on a daily basis. In addition, coordinating with team members to make the most efficient use of time. Inventory control includes continuously monitoring inventories on a regular basis, including evaluating the adequacy of inventory-related systems, security, storage and handling. Classes of inventory are identified, monitored and periodically counted on continuous cycle throughout the year. In-process inventory in each cell is reconciled to the inventory process in open cumulative manufacturing orders. All problems must be identified, resolved and reported in a timely and efficient manner without delaying production, material handling, issues and receipts. Physical count also requires that all inventory transactions were properly recorded and processed. This includes ensuring that cut-off procedures and purging of transactions are also properly recorded and controlled and that recommendations for related problem resolution are reported.
Physical Effort
During the workday, the incumbent is required to walk, stand, stoop, bend, squat, lift and move objects in order to count material. The work day also involves sedentary tasks such as operating a computer and attending meetings. This position may be required to travel to local sites to help perform inventory and other operational activities although overnights stays are rare.
Working Conditions
Some warehouse and shop indoor work with varying temperatures. Some outdoor working conditions with abnormal temperatures which include heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc. Employee works around material stacked overhead height. There is exposure to moving mechanical parts as well as high noise levels. Smoke produced from weld processes is also a factor to consider with this position.
