The Supervisor for the Invasive Procedures department is responsible for the coordination of patient care and the efficiency of unit operations. Collaborates with other professional disciplines and the physicians to deliver safe, efficient, quality care to patients and their families. Facilitates patient’s movement through the department in a timely manner. Directly supervises unit staff. Supports and assists the unit manager with staff development, annual staff evaluations, staff schedules and discipline, time and attendance, as well as assisting in other various projects. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures. Serves as a positive, progressive role model for the unit’s staff by demonstration of clinical/professional expertise.
Licensure or other certifications: Current Ga RN, RTR, Paramedic, RCIS, RCES, RRT, or ARRT; current BLS and ACLS.
Educational Requirements: Associates Degree.
Minimum Experience: Associates Degree in Science with Certification/Registry and three (3) years of experience; or a Certificate/Registry/License in Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Paramedic, or other Diagnostic Program with four (4) years of clinical experience

Preferred Experience: Two (2) years progressive leadership. Vascular Interventional Radiology Certification.

Responsible for the supervision and clinical direction of Invasive Lab personnel. Monitors personnel for compliance with established departmental routines, nursing, and patient care standards. Coordinates the delivery of patient care and flow in the unit to ensure completion of procedure in a safe, efficient manner. Assists with, and oversees when asked, various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities. Implements appropriate disciplinary actions on a consistent and timely basis with documentation when necessary. Ensure protocols, order sets, and clinical practice complies with evidence-based best practice. Works with program medical director(s), establishing protocols for tracking patients to ensure appropriate follow-up and intervention. Monitors employee training and continuing education. May provide direct patient care. Able to perform various role modality in the procedure room. Remains current on new technology trends, treatment modalities and research findings relative to this patient population. In collaboration with medical leadership, incorporate new technologies, treatments, and research into clinical practice. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with all staff to review, plan and coordinate activities of the specific areas/programs and assures documentation of all meetings in defined NGHS format. Oversees the patient scheduling process to assure scheduling efficiency. Addresses problems/concerns (e.g. patient, family, or physician complaints, scheduled procedures, unusual circumstances, disciplinary problems of staff, etc.) and reports, interventions to Unit Manager within 24 hours. Serves as a clinical resource for staff on patient care, policy and procedures, and disciplinary issues. Serves as a management and clinical resource to personnel. Direct supervision of staff to include nurses and techs. Participates with Unit Manager in evaluating personnel. Provides input for ongoing evaluation of staff and assists with performance evaluations. Assists with orientation of new personnel; instructing and supervising delivery of care as required. Provides feedback to Unit Manager in observations of performance of new personnel. Ensures that staff functions within and supports the policies, values and philosophy of the Nursing Division and the Medical Center. Serves as a facilitator between staff and manager providing feedback as necessary. Identifies area of need for personnel on daily schedule, and where appropriate, for on-call schedule, and follows through with appropriate approaches (e.g. team conference, in-services, validation of skills, etc.) Assesses patient needs and observes personnel interacting with and delivering patient care.
Strategic Planning. Builds internal and external program awareness, development and growth. Serves as a leader and knowledge resource for clinical personnel on the identification, tracking and treatment alternatives for patients. Tracks new technology trends, research findings, treatment models, etc., communicates and deploys appropriately so that NGHS's invasive procedures reflects the most current, best practice model for this patient population. Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to foster an environment, which promotes a cohesive team. Contributes to the establishment and achievement of unit goals.
Program Quality. Performs special projects/duties as requested and according to established time frames. Assists with the documentation for the departmental quality assurance program. Adheres to and promotes Lean principles in the department. Ensures the department is in compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and regional/national guidelines for the specified programs. When staffing allows, enables personnel to attend in-services/educational opportunities to enhance their skills/patient care abilities. Assists with the documentation for the departmental quality assurance program. Oversight of cine transfer, department supplies, and equipment maintenance. Plans for the patient’s safety at all times utilizing appropriate safety standards.
Assists in meeting departmental goals and objectives for the year. Reports achievement measurements to the manager. Goals related to expenses. Participates in Quest. Contributes to the establishment and achievement of unit goals.
Other duties as assigned by Manager or Director. Provides unit manager with necessary information concerning scheduled procedures, unusual circumstances, needs and problems of patients, families, physicians, or personnel. Ensures the proper documentation of variance reports as necessary and forwards to Unit Manager within 24 hours. Requests new equipment based on assessed needs and/or reports malfunctions for immediate repair. Performs special projects/duties as requested and according to established time frames. Demonstrates knowledge of normal clinical parameters (diagnostic studies, side effects, etc.) by reporting significant findings to appropriate person.
