A Brief Overview
The Interventional Home Charge Coordinator is responsible for processing patient charges in assigned area(s). In addition he/she serves as the liaison between direct patient care providers in Perioperative Services and other departments, physician offices, and vendors concerning supplies, equipment, patient charges, and revenue management.

What you will do
- Clearing house for clinical requests for product information
- Contacts vendors and other hospitals for emergency items. Implements vendor traffic control policy and provides suggestions for revision/improvement
- Develops and updates charge documents for use by direct care providers
- Educates clinical staff on patient charging procedures. Works with clinical educator to assist in orient new staff members and students to role of Perioperative Charges Coordinator
- Liaison with Patient Financial Services (data entry and auditing), Revenue Management Services (explanation of charges, provision of documentation needed for reimbursement), and with MD offices regarding special orders
- Maintain computer system item file detail as well as active and complete purchase order files
- Maintains on-site inventory of anesthesia supplies and equipment as assigned
- Participates in the monitoring and documenting of quality improvement issues. Identifies and shares recommendations for containing costs in assigned area(s)
- Processes return of recalled equipment and supplies, also process repairs with outside vendors
- Receives all outside deliveries of supplies and equipment for assigned Perioperative area(s). Verifies packing list by line item, checks product integrity, files paperwork, notifies Loading Dock of receipt, delivers to recipient
- Requisition supplies from purchasing (on-line) based on utilization from charge sheets and/or operative records. Assists in the evaluation of new supplies and equipment. Conducts trial studies as directed and maintains records
- Reviews and verifies medical record documentation on surgical patients and completes patient charge documents
- Supports administrative decisions and assures implementation and compliance with all department, institutional and regulatory policies and procedures. Participates on unit, department or hospital committees as requested.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. AA or BS in healthcare or related field desired.
Experience Qualifications
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience in a high volume hospital setting or institutions with at least one year in purchasing related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity
- Ability to conduct self-assessment of skill level and to seeking resources to learn new skills, equipment or procedures to maintain currency in the position
- Ability to contribute in a positive manner to unit and department
- Ability to handle complaints and sensitive concerns in a courteous and confidential manner
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with staff, managers, physicians, patients and their families
- Ability to pay attention to detail, particularly in area of mathematical calculations
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and unit functions
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to write, read and comprehend English fluently
- Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to turn, lift and move without restriction

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $41.30 - $46.50 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
