The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern to join our Technical Quality Assurance team. This team oversees the quality aspects of new product introductions and on market product changes including product development, design control, product integrity, sterilization, clinical support and hardware/software validation activities.

During your placement, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative products

• Support the design transfer process for new products, including validation of systems and equipment

• Work with multiple departments to solve real-world challenges in product development

• Monitor and maintain design control and validation status of site products

• Assist with Risk Management plans, including design risk analysis and FMEA

• Act as a QA representative, providing guidance and solutions for timely, cost-effective projects

• Contribute to change control processes, including impact assessments and documentation

• Support process FMEA and risk analysis records

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives

What are we looking for?

You should be studying for a degree in Mechanical engineering / software engineering, biomedical engineering or chemistry, and seeking a year in industry placement as part of your qualification.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a team and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.  You will need to have good oral and written communication skills to be able to prepare and review reports and technical documents.  You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail to ensure that data and analyses are accurate and meet the requirements of the project.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate around STEM, and keen to pursue their career in the Medical Devices sector. Career growth and future opportunities are pillars of our program. Our Diabetes Care division is part of the Medical Devices group, and it is here that we design, develop, and manufacture leading-edge blood glucose monitoring systems, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, which is used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The system consists of a hand-held meter or smartphone app, and disposable test strips or on-body patch containing a sensor. The meters are developed in Alameda, California, and the strips and sensors developed and manufactured in the UK, at Witney, near Oxford.
