What will your day-to-day look like?
You will be working on an active engine development program. For the Control Systems discipline, this means designing, testing and certifying control system software and hardware, and supporting field engines in service. The design phase involves developing system and software requirements with the aircraft manufacturer, and with internal engineering departments, and working with software suppliers to develop the control software. The test phase involves designing and running tests on test rigs and engines, and evaluating the data to determine whether the control system functions as intended. Field support involves investigating events occurring on aircraft while in revenue service – understanding from Customer Support what event occurred, reviewing the data to understand what happened, and recommending closure actions. Most of your time will be in the office environment in Mississauga’s Plant 22, but you will spend some of your time in the test rigs, and test cells. Student interns will not be required to travel to customers or suppliers, but likely will have the opportunity to visit our Montreal Plant 1 facility to work with colleagues in that plant.
