About the Role

The Industrial Hygiene & Safety Intern will support ongoing health and safety initiatives across the site. This role provides hands‑on experience in sampling, project execution, cross‑functional collaboration, and presenting key outcomes. The intern will work closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), ABS, and department leadership to improve workplace conditions and support a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct industrial hygiene sampling and contribute to safety improvement projects.
  • Support the safety team as an active and engaged member.
  • Identify, plan, and execute health‑focused improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with EHS, ABS, and department management on cross‑functional efforts.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in both office and heavy‑industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial equipment may occur during sampling or fieldwork.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required in designated areas.
  • Occasional walking, standing, or climbing in fieldwork settings.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Support environmental health initiatives through accurate sampling and data collection.
  • Ensure all work aligns with company environmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying hazards or improvement opportunities impacting environmental health.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all site safety procedures, rules, and PPE requirements.
  • Report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Participate in safety activities and contribute ideas for risk reduction.
  • Model safe behaviors and help reinforce a strong safety culture across the site.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior coursework or experience in safety or industrial hygiene.

Skills and Competencies

  • Analytical thinking and data interpretation.
  • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Collaboration and interpersonal relationship‑building.
  • Time management and task prioritization.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
