In Roche´s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. This position is located in Preclinical Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (pCMC), a department within the small molecule research organization in pRED Therapeutic Modalities, where we pave, in a diverse, ambitious and innovative environment, the path to bring drug candidates from early research into development.
As an Intern in our team your main tasks will include:
Option 1 - Oligo synthesis
Discovery of new techniques for the synthesis of complex oligonucleotides
Purification and analysis of reactions involving oligonucleotides with state of the art chromatographic techniques.
Scale up your findings into processes for the preparation of multi-gram quantities of desired target materials.
Option 2 - Oligo Analytical Chemistry
State-of-the-art analysis of complex synthetic oligonucleotides by LC-MS.
Development and implementation of innovative analytical methods to support synthesis, development and production.
Conducting critical in-solution stability and hold-time studies.
An enthusiastic, motivated and scientifically interested person who enjoys teamwork and has a strong willingness to learn new techniques.
A BSc or MSc student, or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months prior to the start date), in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Prior hands-on laboratory experience is required.
Prior experience with oligonucleotide chemistry (solid phase synthesis, conjugation, purification and analysis; Option 1) or LC-MS analytics (Option 2) is desirable.
Excellent organizational skills and proactive knowledge sharing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
