Duration: 6 months
You will join the Data Processing & Analytics department, a transnational department responsible for the development of data engineering solutions for Satellites with strong interactions with the engineering professions for space. The part of the organisation, where you will be working, has diverse profiles (data scientists, project managers, product managers, software developers, big data architects) which will help you onboard and understand the various aspects of data engineering and data science for space applications.
In addition, our data scientists are working on various topics including:
Time series anomaly detection,
Realizing Digital Twin concept with overall architecture concept and needed data pipelines
Realisation of surrogate models in relation to different space professions,
Mathematical optimization (design optimization, architecture, etc.)
Natural language processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLM).
Formalization of data iKnowledge Graphs providing context to the collected data
In this field, the team is working on several internal R&D projects and external initiatives in connection with innovative startups and space institutions, with the aim of meeting the internal needs of Airbus Defence and Space in terms of AI solutions.

Your tutor will support you identify your professional objectives and develop your skills
You will contribute to the following activities:
State of the art on LLMs and RAG architectures, agentic workflows.
Understand user needs, and definition of needed building blocks to correctly build and evaluate models and automate the process.
Building the solution (python development, integrations into data platforms)
Contributions to product roadmaps and internal R&Ds regarding AI.
Implementation of the solution (Python development, integration into the platform)
Testing of the solution with subject matter experts and successive iterations.
This internship will allow you to develop the following skills:
Machine learning (generative AI, Deep learning)
Advanced Python development.
Space business comprehension
Architecture of LLM systems and big data platforms
You are studying data science, artificial intelligence, computer science, software engineering or a similar domain, and you will develop the following competences:
Manipulation and data analytics in python
Ontology Engineering
Deep learning and LLMs frameworks (tensorflow, pytorch, transformers, langchain, …)
Software and big data platform architecture / RAG (vectorial databases, data security, user access, hardware …), agentic workflows.
Space business comprehension
Curiosity, proactive, dedication to deliver
Good presentation skills, ability to showcase work to various people (aerospace engineers, technical experts, data scientists, managers, project managers…)
Enrolled full-time student in the area of data science, artificial intelligence, computer science, software engineering or an equivalent field of study.
Fluent in English. Negotiable in German.
