Geotab is seeking an International Payroll & Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for providing timely payroll administration to the Geotab group of companies, ensuring employment standard compliance and managing employees’ queries regarding all aspects of payroll. As an International Payroll & Compliance Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be serving as the subject matter expert for payroll operations in Italy and France, navigating complex local employment standards while acting as a trusted advisor to our employees. You will need to work closely with internal teams on benefit requirements for leaves of absence requests and disability paperwork, as well as communicate with senior management regarding internal audit reports.
To be successful in this role you will be a team-player with an entrepreneurial mindset who is comfortable in a flat organization, possesses high accuracy, and has meticulous attention to detail. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical skills with the ability to make well-judged decisions and solve problems effectively while managing multiple payroll schedules and compliance requirements.
Prepare, validate and process payroll in accordance with payroll schedule.
Handle employee enrolments and terminations for payroll processing.
Review payroll period changes: personal and employment information changes (position, pay rates, additional payments, etc.) for accuracy and ensure that all supporting data are in place.
Process pay period adjustments when needed.
Download, review and validate payroll reports and journal entries including payroll accruals.
Prepare periodic taxable benefits reconciliations and updates.
Monitor employees’ entitlement balance accuracy to avoid overpayments.
Review changes to employment standards legislation to ensure payroll compliance.
Assist in preparation year-end tax forms and annual payroll reconciliations.
Address employees’ payroll related inquiries.
Prepare internal audit reports for the senior management team.
Work closely with internal teams on benefit requirements for leaves of absence requests and disability paperwork.
5+ years of experience in Italian and international payroll.
Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Italian (verbal and written) is required; French, German, Spanish, or Portuguese is an asset.
Solid understanding of payroll methodology, taxes, and employment standards.
Advanced mathematical, accounting, and bookkeeping skills.
Technical competence in Google Suite and AI-driven tools.
Excellent proofreading and communication skills with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.
