Internal Communications Manager

Lyft is seeking an experienced Internal Communications professional to own the development and execution of communications strategies for members of the senior leadership team and their organizations. This person will be established as a trusted advisor to leadership and critical to building their narrative that delivers on our business objectives and furthers our purpose, vision and values.

Lyft is telling a comeback story about growth, and we aim to deliver strategies that enable our teams to move at lighting speed. Communications should enable efficiencies, with less time spent resolving cross-functional misalignment and more time spent executing as a team with clear roles and responsibilities and decision making power. To be successful in this role, this individual will allocate their efforts as follows:

  • 25% Strategy: Proactively identify goals that advance the long term health of the communications within the business and propel the business forward. 
  • 50% Rhythm of the Business: Ongoing execution of communication strategy tactics 
  • 25% Unexpected: Space to manage rapid response/crisis comms and change management.

We’re looking for someone who can skillfully manage and influence executives to create and hone their personal leadership brand, while working with leadership and their leadership teams to deliver a narrative based on the business objectives. This individual should be creative in their thinking, a self-starter, and agile enough to iterate upon execution and ambiguity. This will report directly to Leslie Zodikoff as a member of the Internal Communications team and part of our Team Member Experience Team which rolls into our People organization.  

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with and influence key company leadership to develop and disseminate their important messages to team members, including aligning the team on our strategy, goals, and priorities
  • Own strategy and results for keeping all relevant team members informed on important org news and updates in a timely and engaging manner.  
  • Provide strategic, direct hands-on support to key senior leaders
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and develop new ways to continually up level our internal communications processes
  • Successfully collaborate with cross-functional partners to execute on a comprehensive plan for seamless communications. 
  • Maintain the Lyft brand and voice across all communications, written and verbal, and across company leadership
  • Keep Lyft fun!

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience guiding strategy and execution in a communications role
  • Deep experience in executive and business communications
  • Ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and execution (can develop high-level strategic plans and also produce crisp, clear communications)
  • Proven success building and implementing programs that inform and delight employees
  • Thrives in highly fluid situations and fast-paced environments 
  • Deep interest in day-to-day news and long-term trends which impact the experience of working at Lyft
  • Self-starter, independently motivated, leads oneself and others
  • Experience tailoring communications to distributed offices, and both full-time/hourly workforce
  • Experience interfacing, influencing and partnering with executives
  • Experience using ai to improve communication effectiveness
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Lyft user/believer

Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000 - CAD $135,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
