Position Summary: 

Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking an Intern, Vulnerability Management to assist the global Vulnerability Management team under the Corporate Information Security Department (CISD) located in Reston, VA for the 2026 summer internship program. This incumbent will help in creating and testing global configuration standards for the various components of the Vulnerability Management tool suite. This is a position for those interested in pursuing a career in information security while getting hands on experience in the operation and configuration of industry standard security tools.  We are looking for a candidate with technology and writing skills that can be applied to the creation and evaluation of a set of technical standards for use globally throughout the company.  

The CISD summer internship program is designed to provide skills, knowledge, and hands-on work experience in the information security and privacy industry, supporting the personal growth of our interns as well as Sony business results.  

This 12‑week summer internship runs from June through August and offers flexibility to work either hybrid or fully remote. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and document individual component standards for our vulnerability management tool suite. 

  • Test potential configuration options in our vulnerability management lab environment. 

  • Analyze the pros and cons of different configuration options, document the rationale behind selecting one over another. 

  • Provide management with regular updates on the progress of creating these standards. 

  • Respond to internal customer queries regarding vulnerability management. 

  • Support Vulnerability Management team in ad-hoc projects. 

  • Provide vulnerability management lab support and configuration guidance for the various Sony security teams. 

  • Maintain knowledge of outstanding and existing vulnerability management issues. 

  • Honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Current student pursuing a bachelors or master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  

  • Strong written communication skills 

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and quickly apply new concepts to accomplish assignments 

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Passionate about coding and automation  

  • Previous experience through work or internship preferred 

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA 

The hourly rate for this internship depends on education level: $24.00 per hour for undergraduate candidates and $25.00–$27.00 per hour for graduate candidates. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
