Qualification and Eligibility Criteria BE/BTech/M.Sc. in Biotechnology or a related Engineering discipline.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a research-oriented intern who sits at the intersection of computational biology and platform engineering. This is not a purely coding role nor a purely wet-lab role — it requires someone who understands biological workflows deeply enough to make them better as software.

You will contribute to building, testing, and validating bioinformatics and computational pipeline nodes — helping translate complex biological sequences and data analysis workflows (protein structure prediction, microbiome analysis, phylogenetic pipelines) into reusable, production-grade platform components.

Skills Needed

Programming:

Basic knowledge of Python (core programming), NumPy & Pandas, Jupyter Notebooks, REST API consumption.

Scientific & Biological Domain:

Understanding of Sequence Alignment & Quality Control (BLAST, ClustalW), NGS Data Analysis, Molecular Biology — DNA/PCR/Protein concepts

AI & GenAI:

AI-assisted coding (Copilot / Claude Code)

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN & EXPERIENCE

This internship offers a rare combination of scientific depth and platform-scale engineering exposure in an active drug discovery environment:

  • End-to-end experience building production bioinformatics workflows on a Temporal-based orchestration platform used by Lilly research scientists globally

  • Hands-on contribution to antibody design computational pipelines (Whichmab/MOO) with real drug discovery impact

  • Exposure to AI-native workflow design

  • Mentorship from both software engineers and computational biologists, giving you a cross-disciplinary foundation for a career at the intersection of biology and data engineering
