The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join the Screening & Assay Technologies team within the Discovery organization. In this role, you will focus on developing and optimizing functional cell-based assays in a high-throughput and automated environment. The team plays a key role in accelerating antibody discovery by building robust screening assays and workflows. This internship is practical and hands-on, with a strong focus on assay development, process optimization, and working with automated systems.
You will work on a project centered around functional screening using primary human and/or tumor cell lines, where you will help set up, optimize, and improve assays that support antibody panel characterization. You will gain experience working with advanced screening technologies and automation platforms, while learning how to generate reliable and reproducible data in a fast-paced lab environment.
With your curiosity and eagerness to learn, you will take an active role in building and improving assays, working closely with experienced scientists and contributing to meaningful work in antibody discovery.
Does this sound like something that interests you? Help us get to know you and submit your CV and motivation letter!
Responsibilities
You collaborate with scientists and research associates to develop and optimize functional cell-based assays.
You are supervised by experienced team members who will guide you in the planning, execution, and documentation of your work.
You design and execute experiments to improve assay performance and robustness.
You work with primary human cells (including frozen cells) and/or tumor cell lines in a laboratory setting.
You contribute to the setup and optimization of high-throughput and automated screening workflows.
You analyze and interpret experimental data to support decision-making.
You maintain accurate documentation of your work in a laboratory notebook.
You present your findings and translate results into actionable improvements for assays and processes.
Requirements
You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at a Dutch university in Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
This internship must be a formal, mandatory component of your degree program required for graduation; we cannot consider candidates who have already graduated or who are seeking an extracurricular internship.
You have an interest in assay development, cell-based screening, and automation technologies.
You are curious, proactive, and eager to learn new techniques.
You are open to feedback, learn from mistakes, and enjoy developing new skills.
You are a team player with good communication skills in English, as it's Genmab's primary language.
Experience with cell culture, preferably with human or primary cells or tumor cell lines.
Affinity with automation or robotic systems.
Basic experience with data analysis (e.g., Python or R) is a plus.
Hands-on, practical mindset with attention to detail.
