Job Description

Industry-based Learner (IBL) – Melbourne, Australia

Location: Hawthorn, Victoria

Employment Type: Full-Time, 12‑Month Fixed-Term Contract

We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic Industry-based Learners (IBLs) to join the Rockwell Automation Technical Support Centre (TSC) in Hawthorn, Victoria. We design this one‑year programme for university students who have completed at least three years of study and seek to gain hands‑on experience in a professional engineering environment.

As an IBL, you will rotate through three specialised teams within the Technical Support Centre, working under the guidance and guidance of team supervisors and team leaders. You will develop your technical skills, customer service capability, and understanding of industrial automation technologies.

You will report to the Supervisor, Remote Support and have a hybrid schedule working in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Use CRM systems to enter, track, and access customer support enquiries within required service times.
  • Handle customer telephone enquiries using Cisco Jabber, ensuring professional responses.
  • Log customer support requests into the Oracle Service Cloud CRM platform.
  • Collaborate with engineers within the AP TSC and other Rockwell Automation personnel to deliver accurate responses to customer issues.
  • Update Technical Support Engineers on customer enquiries and support needs.
  • Provide low‑level technical support to customers, such as assistance with software licencing.
  • Assist Technical Support Specialists by preparing or setting up diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting activities.
  • Perform maintenance and operational responsibilities within the Technical Support laboratory as directed by the TSC Supervisor.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • An educational background in electrical engineering, automation, computer systems, or a related discipline
  • A genuine interest in industrial automation and a commitment to learning.
  • Experience interpreting and responding to customer requests, and convey technical information to varied audiences.
  • Experience evaluating systems for positive end-to-end customer experience and problem‑solving skills with Experience providing detailed troubleshooting and resolutions to users.
  • Experienced in working independendtly while also contributing seamlessly within a remote, team‑oriented environment.
  • A customer‑focused mindset and delivering high‑quality support services.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Experience in customer service through phone, email, or other communication channels.
  • Teamwork or project experience gained through university or extracurricular activities.
