Intern - Process Safety Engineer

Boise EHS supports the safe operation of Specialty Gas and Chemical Systems for semiconductor high‑volume manufacturing. The team focuses on implementing and sustaining Process Safety Management (PSM) elements to enable a world‑class safety environment at the new Boise site.
The Process Safety Engineer (PSE) Intern supports the development, implementation, and sustainment of Micron’s PSM program. This role partners with process safety engineers and multidisciplinary teams to identify, mitigate, and manage risk while assisting with engineering activities and PSM initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in PSM projects and program initiatives.
  • Attend Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) sessions for selected systems.
  • Support collection and organization of Process Safety Information (PSI).
  • Engage with process safety engineers to track and close PHA action items.
  • Assist engineering teams with process safety audits and safety calculations for new equipment.
  • Present a summary of internship work to senior staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of schematic drawings, P&IDs, or similar technical renderings.
  • Basic background in process safety engineering calculations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Pursuing a BS, MS, or advanced degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental Engineering, or related field with a focus on process safety.
  • Must be a current student and not graduate before September 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Power BI or Power Automate.
  • Integrity, positivity, and desire to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to complete work within established timelines.
