Process Engineering Summer Intern – Cleanroom Support

High Purity Value Stream (HPVS)
Location: Farmington, CT
Duration: 8 June - 31 July 2026

Position Summary

The Process Engineering Summer Intern will support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives within Mott’s High Purity Value Stream (HPVS). This role provides hands-on experience in developing, optimizing, and sustaining high-purity manufacturing processes used in semiconductor and other high-reliability applications within controlled cleanroom environments.

The intern will work closely with Process Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve process performance, enhance production efficiency, and support continuous improvement efforts while ensuring compliance with cleanroom and contamination control requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes for high-purity components
  • Assist in creating and updating process documentation, including work instructions, standard work, and production routes
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on yield, throughput, and defect reduction
  • Collect and analyze production and process data to support decision-making and performance optimization
  • Assist with equipment-related activities, including setup, troubleshooting, and support of validation efforts
  • Support implementation of process controls and ensure adherence to cleanroom and contamination control standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering) to drive operational improvements
  • Participate in troubleshooting activities to identify root causes and implement corrective actions

(Aligned with core process engineering responsibilities such as process development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration in HPVS)

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Interest in manufacturing processes, process engineering, and high-purity or regulated environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, team-based manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to data analysis, root cause analysis, or process improvement methods preferred

Working Conditions

  • On-site role within a manufacturing environment
  • Regular work in controlled production areas, including ISO Class 5 (Class 100) cleanroom environments
  • Must comply with all safety, gowning, cleanroom, and quality system requirements

Total Rewards

The starting compensation for this position is $25.00 per hour. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
