Team Summary
The Information Security – Oversight & Enablement Team operates the business of Information Security. We connect strategy to execution by strengthening governance, scaling customer trust initiatives, improving audit readiness, handling risk, refining operating models, enhancing executive reporting, and partnering with vendors to deepen quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
Role Summary
We are seeking an Intern to support enterprise security programs and cross-functional initiatives. You will work within a specific leader’s portfolio based on your strengths and contribute to initiatives that shape how security is governed, measured, and communicated across the organization. This role offers exposure to enterprise operating models, customer assurance, program management, and executive reporting within a regulated healthcare technology environment. Intern will be aligned to a specific function (e.g., governance, security operations, customer assurance, or product security) based on strengths and interests identified during the selection process.
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Support documentation of governance processes, standards, and program requirements
· Assist in developing executive-ready presentations, dashboards, and reporting materials
· Help organize materials supporting customer assurance and audit readiness
· Partner with the Project Management Office to improve project tracking and milestone clarity
· Support finance and planning efforts, including enhancements to QBR materials
· Contribute to process improvements that increase clarity, consistency, and scalability
What Success Looks Like
· Improved clarity or structure within a core governance or operating process
· High-quality materials that strengthen leadership visibility
· Strong cross-functional coordination and organized program support
· Clear understanding of how enterprise Information Security operates at scale
Expected Education & Experience
· Interest in governance, risk management, business operations, or enterprise program management
· Comfort working with structured processes, reporting, and operational metrics
· Exposure to or interest in finance, audit, or compliance environments
· Currently pursuing education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field
· Strong analytical and communication skills
· Ability to synthesize complex information into structured summaries
· Interest in enterprise technology, governance, business operations, or information security
Expected Compensation
$0 - $0The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
