Job Description
Your Team
Brookfield Residential’ s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the success of our projects and operations. This internship program is open to highly motivated and driven students who are eager to explore the development and residential real estate industry, gain practical experience, and make meaningful contributions to our team. The Summer Internship Program will begin on May 25, 2026 and conclude on August 14, 2026. This position will be located in Scottsdale, Arizona as well as require visits to active construction sites.
Your Key Deliverables
This opportunity will work closely with our Arizona Operations team. Areas of responsibility will include, and are not limited to the following:
Purchasing
Spread and analyze bids in excel for awarding contracts
Understand the contract scope of work and specifications for a community
Work with vendors on qualifying bids
Participate in contract negotiations
Participate in competition walks to gather information regarding sales prices, options, and specifications. Document with photos and collateral
Research new products with manufacturers and installers, present findings to purchasing team. If implemented, create/adjust scope of work
Generate POs for new lot starts
Generate budgets and reports at the request of management
Operations
Work with Operations Manager on Starts process submitting plot plans, permits, etc.
Collaborate with third parties to ensure timely delivery of paperwork for starts package
Review invoices and assign in system to appropriate team member for coding and approval
Help facilitate meetings, lunches, etc. with internal teams in the office and on-site
Establish best practices for new processes and initiatives
Upload and manage documentation in BuildPro for Construction team
Generate budgets and reports at the request of management
Construction
Review site for trash or SWPPPS violations. This will include checking catch basins, BMP’s, wash outs, restroom facility containment, etc.
Walk with inspector and assistant on daily inspections
Review corrections with assistant and the trade and or Plans if necessary
Join weekly safety meeting with site team
Be on the lookout for site safety violations and report to Site Managers
Review plans and any needed RFI information to architect or engineers
Generate quality control lists with site team and input defects in BuildPro
Reach out to trades via phone to address and quality issues or needed revisions
Design Studio
Work with designers on package selections / edits
Streamline documentation between departments ensuring timely turns
Follow up with any questions and clarifications that may arise from Sales or Construction
Review new materials from manufactures for the latest product offering
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in a related field (e.g., Real Estate, Construction Management, Business, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
A keen interest in real estate and development.
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and a strong team player.
A positive and can-do attitude.
Ability to work 40 hours per week Monday – Friday.
Must possess reliable transportation.
