Intern - Environmental Compliance/Training

This position is fully in office and based in Raleigh, NC.

Job Summary

The Environmental Compliance/Training Intern will report to the Sr. Manager of North American of Environmental Compliance. This role is designed for a highly motivated, analytical self-starter who is excited to impact the environmental team by inputting data, collaborating on creation of training courses and learn environmental compliance for the retail petroleum industry.

This position will contribute to meaningful, hands-on project work that supports both Real Estate and Environmental strategy. This role offers exposure to cross-functional partners across Environmental Shared Services (Risk, Systems and Support, Projects, Compliance), Real Estate, Finance, Construction, Property Management and Operations, and provides the opportunity to turn data into usable information and presentations into courses.

This position is an in-office role based in the Raleigh office.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Environmental team with data input.
  • Contribute to the creation of training courses by organizing outdated presentations, recordings, and compliance information into real-world learning modules.
  • Work closely with Real Estate Training Intern and Real Estate Training Manager on projects and facilitating trainings.
  • Assist in documenting processes, methodologies, and best practices related to Environmental Compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and participate in meetings to gain exposure to how Environmental Compliance and Real Estate contribute the business.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and work with datasets.
  • Knowledge of learning and development principles, lesson plans, presentations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a desire to learn how to bring new life into outdated materials.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Availability to work 16–20 hours per week during the academic semester and up to 40 hours per week during school breaks.
  • Must be able to work in the Raleigh office; this position is not remote.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Major or coursework in Business, Human Resources, Education, or any Environmental field.
  • Experience working with SharePoint or other document management tools.
  • Exposure to software like Articulate or other learning management tools.
