The Role

As an intern at the Escobedo plant, you will support the update and creation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to reduce safety risks during equipment interventions. This project ensures compliance with safety standards and improves clarity and accessibility of LOTO documentation for operators and maintenance teams.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

  • Review and update existing LOTO procedures in collaboration with Maintenance and EHS teams, ensuring accuracy of steps, images, and revision dates.
  • Validate and update more than 400 LOTO cards currently loaded in the Brady platform; print, laminate, and place updated cards on machines and equipment.
  • Print, laminate, and install energy source identification on machines according to updated LOTO procedures.
  • Create new LOTO procedures (Alternative LOTO) for activities that currently lack documentation, mainly production tasks involving emergency stops; upload documents to Brady platform with steps and images, then print, laminate, and place on equipment.
  • Identify improvement needs for devices to ensure proper application of lockout according to procedures.

What Success Looks Like

  • All existing LOTO procedures reviewed, updated, and properly installed on equipment.
  • New alternative LOTO procedures documented and implemented for previously uncovered activities.
  • Energy source identification visible and aligned with updated procedures.
  • Improved compliance and reduced safety risks during interventions.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Applicable Backgrounds:

  • Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of safety standards and LOTO practices.
  • Ability to manage documentation and digital platforms (Brady or similar).
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and interacting with technical teams.
