Does this inspire you and feel like a fit? Then we would love to have you join us!
The Role
Are you excited about the intersection of AI and cancer immunology, looking to make a meaningful impact in the field of antibody therapeutics? Do you want to gain exposure to the strategic design of innovative antibody therapeutics? Keep on reading! We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join the ML & AI for Antibody Discovery and Development team in the Discovery Data Science department.
During your internship you will work in a multidisciplinary, international team of experienced scientists with deep knowledge of antibody development and machine learning, with the goal of bringing new, groundbreaking antibody therapeutics to the clinic. We leverage modern protein characterization assays, advanced data analysis methods, and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to help improve our therapeutics. Dry- and wet-lab researchers collaborate towards defining project questions, discussing methodology, designing experiments, assessing results, modelling data, and validating predictions. Projects involve computational sequence- and, structure-based protein and antibody engineering. There is room for you to shape the internship in a way that fits your interests as well as your school’s requirements.
Genmab places a high value on new, transformational data-science approaches to enhance our drug discovery and development efforts. As an intern in the Discovery Data Science department, you will make an impact on the development of ground-breaking new medicines to serve cancer patients with unmet medical needs. In addition, as a fully integrated biotech company, Genmab will give you the chance to experience drug development from discovery to translation into the clinic.
Responsibilities
You will conduct exploratory data analysis and statistical analyses.
Depending on the needs of the project you will build and train machine-learning models for antibody design and discovery or experiment with methods, parameters, and datasets.
You can visualise complex results, turning highly technical concepts into intuitive explanations that can be presented to a diverse scientific audience.
You have excellent communication and collaboration skills to productively contribute to large, multidisciplinary projects in a multicultural team, all while valuing positive attitude and well-being in the workplace.
You will contribute to shared codebases, writing clear and robust code that is reusable and deployable on a larger scale.
Requirements
Actively enrolled - throughout the duration of this internship - in a Master’s degree program at a Danish university in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
Available for a minimum of 6 months (up to 12 months).
You code proficiently in Python with experience in using the command line.
You have a good understanding of statistics and basic machine-learning principles.
You are familiar with version control system such as Git.
You are an enthusiastic, creative, goal orientated, pro-active and out-of-the-box thinker with a strong ability to work independently.
You are a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with great command of English, written and spoken.
Optional: knowledge of cloud computing environments such as Databricks or AWS.
Optional: experience with MLOps platforms, such as MLflow or Weights and Biases.
Optional: domain knowledge regarding proteins, and antibodies in particular.
Optional: proficiency in molecular modelling, protein structure prediction, and computational methods for structural analysis. Experience with software such as Rosetta, PyMOL, or similar tools.
