We’re looking for eligible students to join Hitachi Rail!  Hiring for April 2026 (duration to 4months -  6 months) 

Objectives:

  • Demerit Point Tracking: Assisting in maintaining and updating the Demerit Points Log, including cross-referencing PA sections, and ensuring accurate inputs across submissions (under supervision). Support will also include DC coordination and organizing related records in SharePoint.
  • Estimate Compilation: Gathering Estimate inputs from contributors across the team, reviewing completeness in terms of format compliance, and consolidating them into final submission templates aligned with internal standards. Activities will include version control, formatting, and follow-ups with team members to fill gaps or clarify content.
Responsibilities:
  • Review contracts and project agreements; prepare briefing summaries highlighting key commercial terms.
  • Support the preparation and review of internal memos, briefing notes, and management presentations.
  • Assist with basic commercial and financial analyses (e.g., estimate, financial impacts, variation and change order) to support decision-making.
  • Draft and coordinate internal and external correspondence (emails/letters) under supervision, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and project governance.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain commercial/contract documentation (registers, trackers, meeting minutes, supporting evidence) to enable accurate reporting and audit readiness.
  • Support timely reporting by consolidating inputs, verifying data accuracy, and preparing simple dashboards/summary tables.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to connect information across multiple sources to draw conclusions.
  • Basic business acumen and interest in commercial/project environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of formulas, pivot tables, and data formatting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to organize and structure inputs received from different stakeholders into standardized templates and formats.
  • Comfortable working with numerical and contractual data, with good attention to detail.
  • Able to support tracking/reporting processes (e.g. demerit point logs) under guidance.
  • Quick learner with strong organizational skills and ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Exposure to or interest in infrastructure projects, engineering, or construction is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to support various team members as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 months for Co-op or 6 months for internship.
  • Others as per HR guidelines

 

Education:
  • The successful candidate should be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Completion of the second or third year of an undergraduate degree, or currently pursuing a master’s degree, is preferred.
Languages:
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Location - Downtown, Toronto

Pay Details: $23-$30 CAD hourly
