Smith+Nephew seeks a Business Process Optimization Intern in the Global Service business to join the Americas Service Growth team and support the streamlining and optimization of service processes, such as service contract quoting, transacting service exchanges and more.

The role will allow an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to contribute to meaningful improvements in the service and customer care processes. The ideal candidate is always curious and applies rigor to any problem they choose to solve. The candidate is able to work independently, but also in full collaboration with other team members. The position will be based in Andover, MA.

 What will you be doing?

  • This opportunity will involve working with team members of the Service Customer Success team to study existing processes and systems, document them via formal SOPs (standard operating procedures) or WIs (work instructions) and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Responsibilities include observation and documentation of the steps that the Service Customer Care team goes through when quoting service agreements, or transacts service exchanges, etc. Observed processes will be thoroughly documented and turned into formal SOPs and/or WIs for use by future new hires.

What will you need to be successful?

 Education:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s, (i.e. Business, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, etc. 

Experience:

  • Previous applicable intern, co-op, part-time or apprenticeship experience is preferred

Competencies:

  • Familiarity with CRM (customer resource management) systems such as SAP, Salesforce.com is preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

  • Works very well in a collaborative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, and thrives under pressure.

  •  Can work very well with geographically distributed teams and can work with teams from a very diverse background.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $25- $35 USD hourly

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
