Project Overview

Team Overview & Context:

The HOA & Municipalities team is responsible for ensuring that all rental properties are properly registered with the applicable city, county, and municipal entities. This includes Rental Property Registrations (RPR), Vacant Property Registrations (VPR), and Certificates of Occupancy (CO).

Current Challenge: The team manages a large and growing portfolio of properties requiring registrations in multiple jurisdictions, each with unique requirements and timelines.

Business Impact: Maintaining valid registrations prevents violations, fines, and delays in resident move-ins. It also ensures legal compliance and protects the company's operating license in each market.

Project Description & Objectives

Project Description:

The intern will support the Property Registrations team by assisting in the completion, submission, and tracking of rental property registrations and certificates of occupancy across Main Street Renewal's portfolio. The intern will use Yardi and Salesforce to document registration activity and ensure properties remain compliant.

Key Objectives:

•  Support the weekly work queue of property registration tasks in order of priority

•  Assist in completing and submitting registration forms across multiple jurisdictions

•  Help track expiration dates and initiate renewals before deadlines

•  Contribute to maintaining accurate and up-to-date registration data in Yardi

Key Responsibilities:

•  Review the weekly work queue and work properties in assigned priority order

•  Research jurisdiction requirements using the Property Registration Dashboard

•  Complete RPR, VPR, and CO registration forms and submit via online, email, or mail

•  Update Yardi with registration submission dates, completion dates, and expiration dates

•  Coordinate with inspectors and residents to schedule Certificate of Occupancy inspections

•  Follow up with governing entities to confirm registration completion and obtain licenses

•  Upload registration certificates and supporting documents to Yardi

Deliverables by End of Internship:

•  Accurate registration data entered in Yardi for assigned properties

•  Registration forms submitted and confirmed for priority properties

•  Weekly update shared in the Property Registrations & Liens Teams chat

•  Zero expired registrations for the assigned portfolio at end of internship

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

•  Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate, or related field

•  Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple jurisdictions with different requirements

•  Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy

•  English proficiency (written and verbal) – B2 or higher

Technical & Behavioral Skills:

•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)

•  Ability to navigate government portals and online registration platforms

•  Experience or interest in property management, compliance, or municipal regulations

•  Yardi or property management system experience is a plus

•  Strong follow-up skills and ability to work independently
