Job Title: Data Science
Job Level: Internship - Data - Advanced Analytics
Experience Level: Student pursuing B.Tech./Master’s/PhD in a related field. Qualification and Eligibility criteria: B.Tech./Master’s/PhD in Computer Vision and/or Medical Imaging
Location: India – Bengaluru
Purpose of the Role:
The Computer Vision Intern (Advanced Analytics) collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to prototype, experiment, and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning, deep learning, optimization, and computer vision approaches. The intern will work on real-world problems such as medical imaging and vision-based inspection, and contribute to reproducible research artifacts (code, experiments, documentation) under guidance from the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Apply traditional and advanced computer vision algorithms to solve complex challenges through data exploration, model prototyping, and evaluation.
2. Handle imbalanced, noisy, and high-dimensional datasets, ensuring robust experimental results and well-documented data preprocessing pipelines.
3. Partner with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into CV experiments in medical imaging and/or manufacturing vision-based inspection.
4. Support configuration and integration of imaging systems (cameras/sensors) in collaboration with engineers, as applicable to the project.
5. Build and optimize models for scenarios such as real-time inference and batch processing, including benchmarking latency/throughput and accuracy trade-offs.
6. Contribute to the model lifecycle by packaging experiments, writing clean inference scripts/APIs, and supporting deployment handoff (as needed) under guidance from the team.
7. Leverage machine learning, optimization, and deep learning techniques to improve detection/segmentation performance and reduce manual review effort for selected use cases.
8. Use version control (e.g., Git) and Docker to ensure reproducible experiments; exposure to CI/CD workflows is a plus.
9. Leverage image annotation tools and image registration methods (especially for medical imaging workflows) for domain-specific challenges.
10. Collaborate with the team and communicate results through clear experiment reports, demos, and documentation.
Essential Tech knowledge:
1. Proficiency in traditional algorithms (e.g., edge detection, feature extraction) and modern deep learning approaches (e.g., CNNs, object detection, and segmentation).
2. Experience with image processing libraries such as OpenCV, PIL, and scikit-image.
3. Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras.
4. Expertise in vision-based architectures like LeNet, ResNet, YOLO, UNet, EfficientNet, and SAM.
5. Familiarity with optimization techniques, including model quantization, pruning, and deploying real-time inference on edge devices.
6. Knowledge of various imaging modalities (RGB, thermal, histology, and microscopic) acquired from domains like manufacturing, medical imaging, finance, and robotics.
7. Familiarity with specialized medical imaging libraries (e.g., MONAI, ITK/Simple ITK) is preferred.
8. Experience with image annotation tools and image registration methods.
Desirable (Optional) Tech knowledge:
1. Knowledge of 3D point cloud processing, essential for LiDAR and object reconstruction tasks.
2. Advanced proficiency in Python; experience with C++ is a plus.
3. Familiarity with scalable software development practices and integration of hardware systems into software solutions.
4. Familiarity with tools for edge deployments (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson).
Essential Behavioral Skills:
1. Strong communication and critical thinking abilities, coupled with structured problem-solving and attention to detail.
2. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a talent for building professional networks and collaborating within globally distributed teams.
3. A commitment to continuous learning, shared knowledge, and the adoption of industry best practices.
4. Excellent self-management and adaptability to thrive in ambiguous situation
