High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement (P), a clean driving record, and be insurable by the University's insurance carrier; a motor vehicle record check is required. This position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Position Description:

The Bus Driver for the University of Louisville Athletic Department is responsible for operating a bus while ensuring passenger safety and efficient transportation. The bus driver will transport athletic teams to and from the airport in coordination with Athletics Department staff to maintain timely and accurate pickup and drop‑off schedules for teams.

This position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate bus to transport teams, often in heavy traffic or tight spaces.

  • Transport teams safely and efficiently according to scheduled pick up/drop off times.

  • Physical stamina and agility to work long hours, sit for extended periods, and assist with luggage.

  • Interact with athletic staff, supervisors, and other drivers in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Complete required paperwork such as logbooks, submitting reports, and conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and repair to keep the bus in good working condition and handle minor issues on the road, which includes inspecting tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and provide reports to supervisor.

  • Provide a positive travel experience for athletic staff and student-athletes.

  • Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and bus routes, with the ability to learn and adapt to new routes and schedules.

  • Emergency management skills to handle situations like accidents or breakdowns effectively and calmly.

  • Follow state and federal transit regulations and ensure the bus is operating within these laws.

  • Report accidents to supervisor immediately.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
