Summary of Job Duties:

The Clinical Application Analyst Intermediate supports Patient Access Support Services. The position supports system applications, Epic Cadence, with a primary focus on scheduling templates and decision trees. Acts semi-independently under general supervision, requiring some instruction and guidance.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma plus 7 yrs. IT experience or patient access/clinical experience or any combination of the two

OR

  • Associate’s Degree in Clinical, Healthcare, Business, IT, or related field plus 5 yrs. IT experience or patient access/clinical experience or any combination of the two

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical, Healthcare, Business, IT, or related field plus 3 yrs. IT experience or patient access/clinical experience or any combination of the two

OR

  • Post Graduate Degree in Clinical, Healthcare, Business, IT or related field plus 1 yr. IT experience or patient access/clinical experience or any combination of the two

    Job Requirements:

    • Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify process objectives.
    • Defines system and user workflows to illustrate the sequence of steps needed and describe logical operations involved.
    • Converts user specifications into functional specifications.
    • Assists with the development of implementation plans and advance communication to all impacted stakeholders regarding scheduled system updates/upgrades.
    • Adequately tests all system changes and builds to appropriately mitigate or eliminate system risks and adverse effects. 
    • Facilitates communication and acts as a primary liaison between teams, users, and vendors.
    • Provides regular feedback to the team lead and/or management on the status of work responsible for or assigned.
    • Reviews and writes clear documentation to describe system processes, installation, and operating procedures.
    • Assists with the development of training materials to meet educational requirements.
    • Develops reports and extracts and works to define interface requirements.  Works closely with report writers, data warehouse, and interface teams to meet operational and regulatory needs and requirements.
    • Uses cognitive reasoning skills, the appropriate level of application knowledge, and experience to research problems in order to determine the root cause, potential solutions, and recommendations for resolution.
    • Appropriately evaluates the relative priority of the request, keeping in mind factors such as patient safety, regulatory requirements, and deadlines, as well as the effectiveness of alternative interim solutions.
    • Documents issues and initiates issue tracking. Reports problems or issues to software vendors or other IT departments as appropriate. Monitors and progress of software vendors or other departments to manage the timely resolution of issues.  Meets escalation expectations when objectives and deadlines are at risk.
    • Maintains clear communication with end users, as well as IT and operational leadership to receive appropriate governance approvals and keep relevant stakeholders informed of issue status and expected resolution dates.
    • Provides mentorship and guidance for other analysts.
    • Shows attention to detail and ability to adequately gauge and respond to urgent organizational needs.
    • Consistently demonstrates that newly acquired knowledge and skills are incorporated into actual practice.
    • Works to reduce duplication of effort within the department and across the organization.
    • Actively participates in process and quality improvement.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Epic Cadence Certification – Must currently be certified or obtain within 12 months
