Under the supervision of the Manager of Marketing and Communications, contributes to the development and growth of programs and services offered by the sector through strategic use of marketing and communication tools. Generates web content, conceptualize and implement communications and marketing plans to project a positive image, promotes the brand and increases the visibility of the sector. Acts as resource person to employees of the sector on inquires related to communications and marketing to ensure compliance with established policies and standards. As part of a team of marketing and communications specialists, the focus of this position is on social media engagement.
In this role, your main responsibilities would include:
Communications:
Develop and implement an annual communications plan that meets the sector’s communication needs for various internal and external target audiences. This includes drafting content for annual reports, newsletters, brochures, speeches, websites, social media, and press releases, and coordinating their translation. Designs, plans and implements social media plans that include both static and video content. Write various articles related to current events, the promotion of the Faculty's various activities and initiatives, including research.
Marketing:
Develop and implement marketing strategies for the sector that contribute to the organization’s overall marketing and communications plan. This includes designing marketing materials and working with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, and print resources during production to promote the sector while ensuring compliance with graphic standards. Analyze needs and conduct cost‑benefit analyses for proposed marketing plans to support the sector’s annual budget planning and to ensure related activities comply with budget restrictions.
Quality Assurance:
Develop performance indicators and monitor performance through consultations and surveys to maximize the effectiveness of the sector’s marketing and communication activities/products. Analyze the results and coordinate improvements to optimize the use of marketing and communication tools.
Trend and Needs Analysis:
Conduct and carry out market studies, then analyze the results to identify potential new markets as well as program/service offerings. Analyze and assess communication and advertising needs and propose solutions that contribute to the sector’s annual strategic plan.
Media Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for media relations to facilitate responses to media requests and direct them to subject‑matter experts when needed.
Client Advisory Services:
Provide advice and tools to sector employees during the preparation of communication and promotional materials to ensure visual identity and compliance with communication policies as well as web, accessibility, and official languages standards. Serve as a resource for the sector regarding inquiries related to creating accessible documents.
Web Content Management:
Anticipate needs and produce web content to best support ongoing operational requirements while ensuring compliance with web, accessibility, and official language standards and established policies. Develop and assess performance indicators to monitor the use and user‑friendliness of websites, and coordinate improvements to maximize the effectiveness of the sector’s websites.
Event Management:
Lead all aspects of planning and delivering small- to medium‑scale student recruitment events as well as other special events to project a positive image of the faculty or University. This includes forming and chairing event‑planning committees, identifying key components and deadlines, monitoring and communicating progress. Establish event budgets and ensure all activities remain within budget limits.
Liaison:
Participate in internal and external meetings and events to facilitate awareness, engagement, and collaboration. Promote programs, new initiatives, and ongoing activities.
What you will bring:
Knowledge of marketing and communications principles normally acquired through a postsecondary degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role
Advanced knowledge of computer systems and software including web applications, social media platforms, spreadsheets, databases, Internet and e-mail
Knowledge and experience in graphic design (In Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and experience in their application
Experience in developing and implementing a communications plan
Experience giving presentations to large groups in both official languages
Experience in event planning and organization
Experience managing projects
Strong public relations, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability and availability to occasionally travel outside of the city to facilitate recruitment activities, and to work outside of normal office hours
Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written)
