Job Description

Overview:
As part of the Brookfield Residential team, the Interior Designer (18 Month Contract) supports homeowners through the interior selections process, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The role contributes to enhancing our product offering and overall design program, while delivering clear, accurate documentation with a high level of detail and customer care. Reporting to the Interior Design Lead, this position plays a key role in meeting and exceeding homeowner expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Interior Design Lead and ensure homeowner expectations are met or exceeded through accurate, timely, and detail‑oriented documentation that supports a smooth and positive customer experience.

  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of current interior design trends, customer preferences, and market expectations; contribute ideas to refresh and enhance the product offering and support the Interior Design Lead in ongoing program improvements.

  • Manage homeowner selection schedules, maintain and organize product samples, and foster strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure product availability and quality. Communicate consistently with homeowners and internal teams to keep timelines aligned and address any issues early.

  • Provide thoughtful, budget‑conscious alternatives when selections are unavailable or exceed budget, and ensure feature home selections remain current, cohesive, and aligned with target demographics.

  • Respond promptly to all inquiries, support field teams by resolving product or installation questions, attend showhome walkthroughs, and walk customer homes to identify potential installation concerns or quality issues.

  • Represent the Brookfield Residential brand with professionalism and warmth, collaborate with Estimating to ensure pricing accuracy and timely responses, and participate in product knowledge sessions with trade partners to stay informed on new materials and innovations.

  • Document all homeowner selections clearly and accurately, ensure upgrades are captured through proper change orders with associated costs, upload all documentation to the correct systems, and notify relevant departments of any changes to maintain workflow continuity.

  • Schedule homeowner selection meetings in alignment with construction timelines, and document or photograph walkthroughs to share insights, inspire design discussions, and support continuous improvement across the team.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3+ years of residential construction experience with a solid understanding of design processes

  • Interior Design degree or diploma from a recognized post‑secondary institution

  • Deep familiarity with current design trends, materials, and product innovations

  • Strong digital skills and the ability to sketch or visually communicate design concepts

  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and communication abilities

  • Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with internal teams, trade partners, and customers
