Major Duties:

  • You will support and facilitate production and otherwise contribute to the overall missions, goals and objectives of the NAVORDSAFSECACT (N8) organization.
  • You will provide technical guidance to Navy/Marine Corps activities worldwide as well as private industry involved in DON contracts, for hazard classification of ammunition and explosives as required by NAVSEAINST 8020.8.
  • You will review test data and recommend interim hazard classification for ammunition items and explosives substances to permit safe transportation and storage in accordance with the criteria in NAVSEAINST 8020.8.
  • You will maintain technical expertise for cutting-edge technology through continuing professional education and training, symposiums, and technical liaison with other military activities.
  • You will assist the team leader with team activities, progress, and scheduling to ensure successful project performance.
  • You will coordinate and liaise with internal and external customers across a broad spectrum of government employees, military members, consultants, contractors, other government organizations, or private industry.

Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer or scientist providing guidance or expertise in the testing, hazard classification, handling, transportation, or storage of energetic materials, explosives, ordnances, or ammunitions to ensure compliance with established safety policies or standards for an organization.
