Major Duties:
Qualifications: This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Supervision/Management" work category are at the " Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. This is an Interdisciplinary position that can be filled as a Supervisory Physical Scientist (GG-1301), a Supervisory General Engineer (GG-0801), or a Supervisory Operations Research Analyst (GG-1515). In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional Engineering Positions GG-0801, Professional and Scientific Positions for the GG-1301, and/or GG-1515. GG-0801, General Engineer A. A degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR Combination of experience and education that is college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (1) Professional registration ; current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico, (2) Written Test; evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico, (3) Specified academic courses; successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included courses specified in the basic requirements or (4) Related curriculum; successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. GG-1301, Physical Science A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. GG-1515, Operations Research Analyst Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include mastery knowledge of advanced analytical principles, concepts, and methods in the field of physical science, with broad interpretive knowledge in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, chemical engineering, material physics, chemistry, biology, geophysics, electro magnetics, optics, sensors, signal processing, high performance computing, statistics, national technical nuclear forensics, laboratory analysis systems, and space-based surveillance and reconnaissance; applying knowledge of planning, budgeting, scheduling, personnel management, systems acquisition and contracting of scientific projects and programs; interpreting, organizing, and presenting information in a clear, concise manner to produce scientific reports and briefings to senior level audiences in order to successfully negotiate and/or defend and justify program positions. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: 1. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. 2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position; the APDP level required specifically for this position is Engineering and Technical Management - Foundational level, or equivalent. 4. A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical field (such as physics, nuclear engineering, chemistry, biology, geophysics, etc.) and a minimum of 15 years of experience is desired. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): in Education Section: PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
