Job Summary: YOU WILL SERVE AS A MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER, ELECTRONICS ENGINEER OR PHYSICIST IN THE MISSION SYSTEMS GROUP, AVIONICS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, EO AND SPECIAL MISSION SENSOR ENGINEERING DIVISION OF NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a technical leader and participate in a wide variety of advanced projects, which span the concerns of all Divisions of the Advanced Technologies Development Department.
  • You will advise NAVAIR leadership and major program efforts in analysis, simulation, and avionics hardware development to test and demonstrate critical elements that advance state-of-the-art and set new precedence for laser-based sensor systems
  • You will seek solutions using an approach which combines a deep understanding of the fundamental laws of physics, mathematics, and computer science with the most recent electronic and theoretical developments.
  • You will be responsible for developing strategy for transitioning these programs into technology demonstrations and practical products.
  • You will provide the vision and methodology for unifying these elements into a practical cost-effective product for integration into operational platforms.
  • You will use application of personal expertise, knowledge of industry development, and literature searches to determine if techniques of other scientific disciplines.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER, ELECTRONICS ENGINEER OR PHYSICIST performing duties such as: 1) Experience with ocean sensing using optical systems; 2) Familiarity with light detection and ranging techniques; 3) Lead research projects; 4) Mentor and collaborate with scientists and engineers; 5) Develop novel technical ideas and building technical roadmaps; 6) Ability to communicate complex technical information and concepts to project sponsors and technical leadership; 7) Familiar with aircraft and ocean sensing using electro optics systems: 8) Knowledge and usage of LASERS; 9) Experience with research and acquisition and assisting the program offices with their S&T roadmaps as it pertains to electro optics; 10) May serve as the principal investigator of a research project and lead a team of researchers; 11) Should have an understanding of the state of cutting edge research in their field, with credibility within their field of research; 12) Participates in conferences and peer-reviews and likely have publications and/or patents; 13) Identify engineers and scientists for recruitment both within and external to NAWCAD: 14) Experience in an area of science or engineering with considerable depth, effectively coordinating with scientists and engineers with experience in other fields.
