Interactive Director - Head of Production & Technology (Hybrid Role)

The Head of Production & Technology is a cross-functional leadership role responsible for overseeing end-to-end production execution, post-production delivery, and core IT operations. This position ensures that creative projects are produced efficiently, post-produced to the highest standards, and supported by secure, reliable, and scalable technical infrastructure. The role bridges creative, operational, and technical disciplines, serving as a central point of accountability across production, post, and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management (Pre-Production Through Wrap)

  • Oversee production planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution for all commercial projects.
  • Develop and manage production budgets, bids, and cost reports; track actuals and manage variances.
  • Manage crewing, vendors, locations, permits, payroll, insurance, and union/non-union compliance.
  • Oversee on-set operations and resolve production challenges related to logistics, staffing, and resources.
  • Ensure production safety, labor compliance, and best practices across all shoots.
  • Manage production wrap, reconciliations, and handoff to post-production.

Post-Production Oversight

  • Oversee post-production workflows from offline edit through final delivery.
  • Manage post schedules, budgets, and resources across editorial, VFX, color, sound, and finishing.
  • Act as the primary client and agency contact during post-production.
  • Ensure all creative, technical, and delivery specifications are met across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
  • Supervise final QC, versioning, and asset delivery.
  • Maintain post-production documentation, asset management, and archival standards.

IT & Technology Management

  • Own the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, cloud services, and workstations.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of production and post-production systems.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity, data protection, backup, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Manage user support, onboarding/offboarding, and access control.
  • Evaluate, procure, and maintain hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Lead technology planning for new workflows, facility upgrades, and scalability

Leadership, Strategy & Operations

  • Serve as an operational leader and trusted partner to executive leadership.
  • Develop and enforce policies, workflows, and best practices across production, post, and IT.
  • Manage internal staff, freelancers, and external vendors across all functional areas.
  • Own cross-departmental planning, resource allocation, and capacity management.
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost control, and technical reliability.
  • Support business growth by aligning production and technology capabilities with creative and client needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6 - 8+ years of experience across commercial production, post-production, and/or media technology operations.
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, schedules, and teams in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong technical literacy, including networks, storage, media workflows, and post-production pipelines.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and interface directly with clients and executives.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance creative priorities with operational and technical constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a small-to-mid-sized commercial production company or post-production facility.
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Movie Magic, Avid, Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and Pro Tools.
  • Experience managing shared storage, high-bandwidth networks, and collaborative post workflows.
  • Knowledge of union agreements, labor compliance, and production insurance.
  • Relevant technical or production certifications.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $95,000-110,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just one component of Taylor Corporation’s total compensation and benefits package for employee.
