The Boeing CompanyBoeing is seeking an Intellectual Property Licensing Manager to join our team in Tukwila, WA; Seal Beach, CA; or Hazelwood, MO. This position is with the commercial intellectual property licensing team which helps keep the worldwide commercial air fleet safely flying. The team licenses Boeing intellectual property in close coordination with Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Global Services to enable third parties to provide good and services to support the Boeing fleet, including aircraft maintenance, modifications, parts manufacturing, simulators, digital aviation, and more.
This team is hiring for two manager positions, one of which will be located in Tukwila, and the other could be based in Tukwila, WA; Seal Beach, CA; or Hazelwood, MO.
In this role you will lead a team of commercial licensing specialists and work closely with the commercial business units to assess, update, develop, implement, and manage licensing programs. The role requires a broad skill set including understanding intellectual property, negotiation, contracting, cross-enterprise coordination, account management, business case analysis, financial analysis, advising business units, and managing a team.
Position Responsibilities:
Utilizes expertise in intellectual property licensing and knowledge of Boeing's technologies and business strategies, to develop, negotiate, and manage complex intellectual property license programs.
Supports the integration of business unit objectives, strategies and plans with licensing opportunities and market development.
Manages employees that handle complex intellectual property license agreements.
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with internal clients, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports.
Provides oversight and approval of business approaches, products and processes.
Manages, develops and motivates employees.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Intellectual property licensing experience
Significant experience in managing teams of employees with diverse skills and backgrounds
Significant experience handling complex negotiation and contracting processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, team, and presentation skills
Experience leading and driving difficult tasks to completion
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
An advanced degree in business (e.g., an MBA) or a JD from an ABA accredited law school
Experience with strategic business plans and strong financial acumen
Familiarity with BCA and BGS business units
Experience managing complex projects and a large volume of matters while meeting deadlines and prioritizing as needed
Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking, ability to understand complex IP issues, assess risk, and provide concise business‐focused advice
Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives
