Your position:

Vanderlande understands the complexities associated with operating a successful Airport and delivers future proof logistic process automation. These automation systems are composed of many (electro-) mechanical and IT components, built by teams in various parts of the world and must be integrated with other (software) systems to support the processes of our customers.

As an Integration Engineer, you are involved in integrating the various components and (sub)systems into a solution. This is especially challenging for large and complex consisting of individual carrier systems, sortation systems, automatic storage and retrieval systems, automated guided vehicles, robots, conveyors, control software and IT infrastructure. You test the system to ensure that it works according to the design. Often, testing involves attempts to intentionally break the system to identify any problem areas, based on an analysis of technical risks. Test- and integration engineers contribute to the success of projects through their superior knowledge of the system as a whole, its operational objectives, how its parts work together, and the technical factors that go into its development.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Integration Manager in the test designs and test plans based on system design, risk analysis and customer demands.

  • Organization of test preparation meetings, both internally and with the customer and other subcontractors.

  • Direct and main dialogue between the project team and the customer in all matters related to Integration and Commissioning.

  • Create test design based on test plan and design documentation, create test cases, create test scripts (for automatic tests), Prepare test environment (setup IT infra, deploy software and tooling, configure system)

  • Optimization of resources and times to reduce costs.

  • Execute the integration, system and customer acceptance tests on-site.

  • Analyze and report the test results, (production) problems and verify solutions.

  • Ensure that the pertinent Test Records are kept, in accordance with the Integration Plan.

  • Discuss results with developers, solution architects / customers or other team members.

  • Prepare and implement a procedure for the management of Non-conformities and Corrective Actions, follow-up on them and manage their closure.

  • Support Lifecycle Services in reviewing lifecycle service proposals and RMR’s, act as custodian of the system such that the operational readiness is guaranteed.

  • Identify areas for improvement based on customer and operational feedback.

Your profile:

You are an analytical problem solver who thinks in a systems perspective. You are able to manage small details while keeping an eye on the big picture. You like to work together in an international multi-disciplinary team of engineers.

  • A technical degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or Control Technology) at least at bachelor level.

  • Experience with Siemens PLC/TIA Portal and Allen-Bradley PLCs is a strong advantage

  • Knowledge on Test & Requirement management tools – Polarion, Hp Quality Centre, DOORS, JIRA

  • Affinity with IT and Industrial Automation and interested in logistic processes.

  • Previous experience of material handling domain will be an added advantage.

  • Desired experience level: 8 years and above.

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering and / or Software development.

  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and techniques.

  • Knowledge of automated test-tools (execution, result registration, test management)

  • Actively listen to customers and gather insights to understand their preferences, pain points, and desires.

  • Coordination with the different work fronts (installation and commissioning) to verify the completion of areas/elements necessary for tests.

  • Pragmatic attitude and able to balance quality, lead time, costs and technology.

  • Assertive team player, Proactive and takes initiative and hands on attitude.

  • Flexibility to change strategies and pivot in response to new information or market conditions.

  • Willingness to take calculated risks and embrace uncertainty.
